Francis E. Coleman arrived at the Carlisle Indian School on October 14, 1908 and would graduate from the school on September 2, 1911. After Coleman graduated from the school, he stayed in Carlisle working as a telegraph operator until 1912. Then in 1916 was working for the Soo Line Railroad Company in Byron, Wisconsin.
