Charles (Long) Fish had arrived at Carlisle Indian School on January 7, 1905. While at the Carlisle Indian School Charles Fish would participate on a 2 year outing that focused on the trade of painting. After graduating from Carlisle on May 4, 1911 Charles Fish would end up living in Lower Brule, South Dakota in 1913.
