Yamie Leeds arrived at the Carlisle Indian School on August 24, 1884 and would leave the school on July 2, 1891. While at school, he studied printing and after leaving Carlisle Yamie Leeds was working as a stock raiser and farmer in Seama, New Mexico in 1907. He would then move to Laguma, New Mexico in 1910 working as a pottery worker. Yamie would return to Seama, New Mexico in 1913 going back to work as a stock raiser and farmer.
