Wheelock, James R.

James R. Wheelock arrived at the Carlisle Indian School on August 30, 1889 and would graduate from the school in 1896 but would only leave the school on June 30, 1897.  The schools follow up report shows that James was bandmaster and assistant printer at the Carlisle Indian School for five years.  He was also the proprietor and conductor of Wheelock’s Concert Band in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1907 and 1910.  James would then be the conductor of the Hagerstown Municipal Band in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1917.
