Daniel Whirlwind arrived at Carlisle Indian School on August 31, 1907. While at Carlisle, Daniel Whirlwind had studied in the trade of blacksmithing. But, Daniel would not graduate from Carlisle and instead had left on July 28, 1910. A follow up report had Daniel Whirlwind living in Wood, South Dakota in 1914 and was working as a stock raiser and a farmer there.
